Spy photographs of the new-look 2017 Lexus GS F have been revealed. Based on the popular GS, the new model returns with an elegant-yet-aggressive styling. It is a jack of all trades when it comes to offering its enthusiasts an unprecedented level of style and comfort, all the while providing excitement and thrills on challenging situations. While its release date has been confirmed for mid-next month, its pricing estimates remain a mystery.
Although the 2017 Lexus GS F amps up the performance of the regular GS 350 coupe, its level of luxury and power might not be enough to topple other rival high-performance sedans. For 2017, buyers should expect the new model to return with mild changes over the existing model. And just like before, it comes as a response to the Audi RS, Cadillac’s V series, Mercedes-Benz’s AMG, and BMW’s “M” division.
Based on teaser images of the test mule, the new model comes with a reinvigorated attitude on its proverbial sleeve, boasting of upgraded carbon-fiber accents, quad tailpipe tips, and bodywork. Just like before, its bold front fascia is highlighted by race-inspired large brake calipers, low-slung wide stance, triple beam headlights, functional air inlets, quad exhaust rear diffuser, and a carbon fiber rear spoiler.
Beneath the hood, the new 2017 Lexus GS F returns with the naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 engine rated at 467 hp. This is the same powertrain that powers up the Lexus RC F – the last time I checked! In addition to producing that much power, it gets performance features such as a retuned suspension system, upsized brakes, and a torque-vectoring rear differential, all of which aid it in its quest to providing a scintillating performance.
At the end of the day, truth be told: the 2017 Lexus GS F still feels subpar in comparison to other alternatives offered. This is an all-star league that features rivals such as the 2016 BMW M5, the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V, and the 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG E63. Although these rivals here are superior in terms of the dynamic range of ride comfort and handling, they lack the competitive price advantage the 2017 GS-F has.
2017 Lexus GS F Release Date & Price
As previously told, pricing info of the new-look is yet to be offered. Rumors however allege the new model will be offered for sale just within a reasonable boundary of the existing model’s MSRP, whose price starts from $84,000. Credible reports say its release date will occur sometime in the second half of 2017.
2017 Lexus GS F Exterior Spy pictures
As the images portray, the exterior shape of the new model has been influenced by superior aerodynamics. In fact, rumors say the overall drag efficiency has greatly been enhanced over the previous model thanks to the aerodynamic stabilizing done on various sections of the panels. Although not very visible enough at the moment, the front fascia of the new model is highlighted by Lexus’ trademark spindle grille, and dramatically wide and tall air inlets.
The massive openings allow for brake cooling maximizing. The grille doesn’t seem to have changed at all, and returns with the lower molding that also adds to offering a sizable downforce. Lexus were also able to take the car’s sporty nature to a whole different angle thanks to the slightly redesigned sculpted rocker panels, and broad fender flares.
Due to the heavy-cladded camouflage, it is almost impossible to catch a glimpse of the rear profile. But just like front, the same theme of aggressive design also flows rearward. Just like its immediate predecessor, the model should also feature fin-shaped aerodynamic enhancements, organically shaped rear taillights, and a downforce-generating CFRP rear spoiler.
