Its strong fuel economy, ample power, a high rear seat with generous legroom, a competitive price, and a lengthy list of standard features make the 2017 Acura RDX a solid choice for a premium small crossover. Its release date should be expected sometime in early 2017.
A thorough makeover should be expected for the 2017 Acura RDX including but not limited to freshened taillights and headlights, and a new grille design. Inside, the cabin is now brightened by the plethora of new technologies and features such as a new trim, and an upgraded touchscreen display. Technologies available for this year include a blind-spot monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, automatic wipers, and lane-departure warning and mitigation system.
The RDX debut on the market was boastful and widely seen as a high-tech wonder. It came with a sophisticated all-wheel drive system and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but failed to resonate well as it had been hoped for by Acura. So, several years later, Acura redesigned the RDX giving it a traditional V6 engine and a more conventional design for a luxury crossover SUV.
With these changes in place, the RDX garnered massive popularity in a few years and became the class leader in terms of sale’s growth and girth. And the same success spree seems to be unending with the 2017 model promising the same level of rejuvenation shown five years ago. The 2017 model comes with high-tech driving aids offered as standard features. The materials used for the cabin surfaces are comfortable and appealing for a luxury branded crossover.
Only one engine is offered beneath its hood, a 3.5L V6 that offers a solid performance and fuel economy ratings thanks in part to the cylinder deactivation system. Fuel consumption should be expected at an impressive 23 mpg.
There are still a few idiosyncrasies on the 2017 Acura RDX. These include a distracting touchscreen interface, it doesn’t feel sporty as some of its rivals, and it doesn’t feel very prestigious to drive. as such, alternatives you consider include the 2017 Audi Q5, the 2017 Volvo XC60, the 2017 Lexus NX 300t, the 2017 Porsche Macan, and the 2017 BMW X1 and BMW X3.
