If you you’re looking for a small crossover SUV, the new 2017 Chevrolet Equinox is a worthy choice as it offers a spacious and adjustable backseat, a comfortable ride, a strong optional V6 engine, and a serene interior. Here, we keep our readers adept with latest news in matters concerning the Equinox’s release date, engine specs, price estimate, and exterior and interior redesigns. So keep reading!
With a significant number of rivals nipping at its heels, the 2017 Equinox is a welcoming rejuvenation. However this shouldn’t be misconstrued to mean the new model has been completely redesigned from the outgoing model. It still feels and drives like an Equinox. And the difference is only manifested on mild exterior and interior tweaks.
The flimsy touchscreen, as some described it, has been updated and the new system is more driver-centric and easy to use than before. Also, the Equinox gains xenon headlights, a blind-spot monitoring system, and a tri-zone automatic climate control.
One of the areas that Chevy has decided, once again, to ignore is an update to the base four-cylinder engine. This is a lingering sore spot that should have been dealt with a long time ago. Its EPA estimates are solid but disappointing during real-life testing as it is hard corroborating them. However, you could get more power if you opt for the more agile 301-hp-generating V6 engine.
Otherwise, the Equinox is practical in other respects such as the voluptuous backseat it offers relative to other costly crossovers in its segment. Although we acknowledge the efforts that Chevrolet have invested in getting the Equinox back to its feet, there are other better alternatives in the market that deliver a better package though some might be a bit costly.
We are talking about appealing vehicles such as the multi-talented – 2017 Honda CR-V, which also happens to be one of our favorites in the segment. It offers lots of utility and performance and we highly recommend it to anyone shopping in this segment. Others in the segment that offer superior agility, engaging ride quality, and versatility include the 2017 Mazda CX-5, the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, and the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
