The new 2017 Chevrolet Sonic is once again here with us, only this time it offers updated technologies and features over the model it is replacing. Some of the features include a fresh exterior design, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility available with the MyLink system. The Chevrolet Sonic EV is a sporty, more expressive take on Chevy’s fun-to-drive small car lineup. That said, read on to learn more of what this pocket size model with impressive green credentials has to offer on the table. Its release date should be expected sometime in January 2017, according to latest whispers trolling the industry.
For starters, the model belongs to the growing list of subcompact vehicles. It is available is both hatchback and sedan body styles. It debuted during the recently concluded 2016 New York Auto Show and we got a glimpse of what we had all along been expecting. The updated exterior styling complement the new convenience and comfort features that make life aboard it enjoyable. Some of these features include a heated steering wheel, rear park assist, and a standard 7-INCH MyLink touchscreen system.
According to Steve Majoros – director of marketing, Chevrolet Cars and Crossovers – the new 2017 Chevrolet Sonic’s new features and styling farther reinforce its trademark as a fun, efficient small car chock full of latest technologies. “We look forward to further our appeal to an even diverse group of consumers and show them what we’re all about,” he added.
Similar to the Chevrolet Trax that too has a solid reputation of appealing itself to the younger generation, the 2017 Sonic is also expected to appeal to the younger generation below the age of 35 years, and also to a new crop of new buyers. According to Chevrolet, the new model will be available in several iterations for both the Sonic Hatchback and Sedan. The latter comes in three trims: LS, LT, and Premier trims while the former comes in only the RS trim level.
Staying true to the hallmarks that define the Chevrolet Sonic model, the new model, in addition to the latest changes and redesigns, will also come with a potent turbocharged engine, fun-to-drive ride quality, a spacious and comfortable cabin, a generous number of standard features, and a composed ride quality. Again, it’ll come with an excellent balance of features, comfort, and safety. All these features will undoubtedly aid its quest in maintaining its stature as one of the most solid pick for a subcompact sedan or hatchback.
Yet, the Sonic isn’t the only vehicle that has undergone a radical surgery in its class. For superior fuel economy, acceleration, and enjoyable day-to-day usability, we highly recommend the 2017 Ford Fiesta, and for better interior materials, and smoother ride quality, we find the Kia Rio to be a stylish alternative. Others solid picks in this class include the 2017 Hyundai Accent, and the Honda Fit hatchback.
