In the full-size pickup segment, the new 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 is a top contender, no doubt, courtesy of its award-winning like combination of features such as a supple, ride quality, useful tech features, a refined and quiet cabin, and an excellent eight-speed automatic transmission system. The Dodge Ram 1500 release date should be expected sometime this fall or early 2017.
Despite having had its last full redesign seven years ago, the 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 has managed to keep its cool. From the remarkable supple ride quality, upscale interior materials, to the easy-to-use infotainment system, there’s an abundance of features to make up for the general lack of freshness.
All major players in this segment – 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, GMC Sierra, and 2017 Toyota Tundra – have all undergone a thorough makeover in recent years. But even so, the RAM 1500 refinement belie its age. We still highly encourage anyone looking for a serious pickup truck to give it more than just the benefit of the doubt.
One aspect that is seemingly unchanged on the latest Dodge Ram 1500 is its smooth ride quality and the impressive cabin appointment. It soaks bumps and flattens out mundane road conditions like it is nobody’s business courtesy in part to the coil-spring rear suspension system.
Besides that, the Ram 1500 changes are minimal but welcome. The interior sees some several upgrades to the technologies such as the infotainment system and driver aides. The seats are also covered in a rich materials that you’d be lucky to find in other trucks in its class, and the overall interior ambience reeks of comfort.
Although the 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 is one of our favorites in its class, its lack of freshness even in the face of growing hostility from its foes makes it hard for us to fully recommend it to would-be truck drivers. As such, it would be prudent to check what the segment offers as viable alternatives. They include the GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Silverado, Toyota Tundra, and the “A” rated Ford F-150.

2017 Dodge Ram 1500 Engine Specs
Dodge hasn’t said anything about what lurks beneath the hood of the Dodge Ram 1500 2017, however, our assumptions are that it will still come with some of the existing ones including the base 3.6L gasoline V6, the 5.7L V8, and the turbocharged 3.0L diesel V6. The base V6 engine is rated at 305 horsepower and 269 lbs. ft. of torque, the 5.7L V8 at 395 hp and 410 pounds-feet of torque, and the turbocharged diesel V6 engine at 240 hp and 420 pounds-feet of torque.
