Depending on your priorities, the new 2017 Ford C Max Energi offers a nice balance between utility, refinement, fuel economy, and electric range. However, there are other desirable competitors out there which you might find appealing, too. Its release date should be expected sometime in early 2017.
Notable highlights for 2017 include an elevated driving position, a decent electric range, well-trimmed cabin, a quick acceleration, high fuel economic, and excellent driving dynamics. While they might not be suitable for everyone, electric cars like the 2017 Ford C Max Energi are mainly for those who don’t do long-distance daily commuting and who seek high fuel economy figures.
An electric range of 19 miles is offered by the C Max Energi which as a result of a battery and plug-in powertrain combo. Regular gasoline-electric hybrid setup is reverted back to once the all-electric range is used up. During this mode, the battery is recharged entirely from the excess braking energy and engine power. This recharging system boosts the fuel economy ratings to nearly 90 MPGe thanks to the short bursts delivered during an all-electric travel.
Aside from the impressive functionality of the plug-in system, the model is a standout in terms of interior refinement and driving refinement. It offers a solid and composed ride, respectable acceleration, and offers a remarkable responsive steering just like it’s separately reviewed 2017 Ford C Max Hybrid stablemate.
There are few foibles, though. Its ride quality has been found to be stiffer, its cargo volume limited, and its sticker price far more expensive relative to its competition. Although these downsides are significant reasons to make any potential owner think twice, they’re far from deal-breakers.
Some of the few alternatives you can consider include the Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid, Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid, and 2017 Chevrolet Volt. We still think the new 2017 Ford C Max Energi is well worth considering.
