The new 2017 Ford Edge continues to outpace its competition through smart engineering and technology innovativeness. It is a strong choice for a five-passenger midsize crossover SUV thanks to its carlike road manners, spacious interior accommodations, and attractive interior trimmings. Its release date should be expected sometime in the second half of 2017, if online rumors are anything to go by.
Other notable strengths offered by the redesigned 2017 Ford Edge include comfortable five-passenger seating configurations, a sophisticated ride quality, lots of luxury and technology features, and fuel economy especially for the base model.
Chevrolet Celebrity? Please vacate the premises. Ford Tempest? No. Hyundai Aspire? You must be joking. With all due respect, there are many names brands offer their models that don’t actually auger well with their personality. As a matter of fact, that’s almost the norm in the automotive industry. However, Ford got it right with the Edge. “Edge” because the model intricately fits between multiple segments.
One of its notable strength is space and it offers a significant amount of it without actually becoming a three-row juggernaut like its Flex and Explorer stablemates. Therefore, earning it the “Edge” nameplate as there aren’t many of its kind out there.
The 2017 Edge is tidy and maneuverable on the road despite its midsize footprint and voluptuous cargo and interior space. This is partly because of the slight changes made to its mechanical underpinnings and suspension. Throw in a turbocharged V6 and carlike road manners, and you’ve got yourself an excellent vehicle that drives and feels like a sedan despite the fact that it weighs more than two tones.
As is often the case, idiosyncrasies are difficult to ignore. As such, some of them on the edge include an underwhelming performance in its basic form, and flimsy downshifts from the automatic transmission system.
Thus, it is advisable to check what keeps the Edge from being the decisive victor in the segment in terms of competition. The Nissan Murano offers a bold styling and a high-level of interior refinement, the Kia Sorento comes in dizzying amount of trim levels that offers anything ranging from powerful mills to plenty of interior technologies, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee winds up the bogey list with its fuel-efficient engines and impressive off-road prowess.
Trim Options – 2017 Ford Edge
