The new 2017 Nissan Altima refresh ropes in a number of changes and upgrades that in no doubt offer it a bit more curb appeal. Some of the highlights for the newest model include a competitive fuel economy rating, a strong acceleration, and a responsive transmission system. The Nissan Altima release date should be expected sometime in the second half of 2017, at least for the USA market and later elsewhere.
Three years have gone by since Altima’s last redesign and in that short span the competition has gone full blast and surpassed it in almost every facet of its functionality and performance. Even with the intervention of Nissan’s exterior updates, and a slew of additional interior accessories on the Altima, the once revered position the Altima once boasted of seems to be a mirage.
Up front, the Altima gets a V shaped grille that brings it to speed with other Nissan vehicles. The taillights and headlights give it a more contemporary and chiseled look and breaths life to its contemporary styling. Convenience and safety technologies have also been improved and some of them include automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and mitigation, stability and traction control, and adaptive headlights and wipers.
Sadly, the drumbeat of technology has faded in the 2017 Nissan Altima interior. The infotainment system is dated relative to what the competition offers, and the same is true for the quality of material used on surfaces and upholstery.
There’s no escaping the fact that the Altima isn’t as dominant as it was back in the days. Those shopping in the segment however have a plethora of alternatives to choose from. “A” rated sedans here include the 2017 Mazda 6, Kia Optima, Hyundai Sonata 2017, and the Honda Accord for 2017.
Rumors are rife that the 2017 Nissan Altima Hybrid is bound for dealerships sometime next year. Well, it’s too early to speculate the price it will be offered with, as Nissan is yet to substantiate the speculations. My crystal ball tells me the model will probably be offered late next year or mid-next year (2018), either way, only time will tell.
