The three-row 2017 Volvo XC90 has been reborn into a pretty desirable luxury crossover SUV thanks to a sharp new look and style, an available hybrid model, a boatload of technologies, spacious second- and third-row benches, and confident handling. The Volvo XC90 release date should be expected sometime in the latter half of 2017, at least according to rumors going round within industry circles.
For 2017, the new Volvo XC90 receives a mild refresh owing to the fact that it received its first ever comprehensive redesign last year, and it was the first since the vehicle’s debut back in 2003. Typically, models undergo a surgery about every five years or so, so the previous generation model was pretty much dated in today’s standards.
While there’s no denying the fact that Volvo’s safety and understated styling have long been the reasons why buyers flock their dealerships, the large crossover SUV segment has in the last couple of years undergone a major evolution that has seen plenty of new and fresher models come on board in terms of competition. This has had a negative impact on the sales of the old Volvo SUV, which is no longer the hip, bulletproof icon it used to be.
The Volvo XC90 2017 SUV however puts it right back at the game thanks to the invigoration on its exterior and interior design. The slimmer headlights, lower air intakes, and assertive styling have made the vehicle to look modern without giving away its identity as a Volvo. The interior also offers several updated features such as the 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, leather and wood trimmings, and a Swedish crystal glass for a high luxury feel.
In terms of performance, Volvo has offered its brand new model with two engines: a four cylinder supercharged and turbocharged mill. The eight-speed-automatic equipped version should be able to make around 316 horsepower. The 2017 Volvo XC90 plug-in, also using the same engine makes a whopping 400 horsepower.
Rumors allege the Volvo XC90 0-60 mph takes a blistering 6.0 seconds, and runs on electric power alone for a distance of 14 miles. In terms of fuel efficiency which is the hallmark of every hybrid vehicle, EPA says the vehicle should be able to check in at 53 MPGe.
