New 2017 GMC Yukon – Release Date and Info

Anyone shopping for a near-luxury truck-based SUV should probably book a 2017 GMC Yukon test drive. although its competitors may better some of its features, it is still a fine choice for those looking for a strong V8 power, an impressive interior quality, an extremely quiet highway ride, an available nine-person seating capacity, and stout towing capacity. The GMC Yukon 2017 release date should be expected this fall, according to multiple insider reports.

2017 GMC Yukon exterior, side view, red color, alloy wheels

The 2017 GMC Yukon is among the old-school breed of truck-based SUVs that, just like its peers, is almost at the brink of its extinction similar to the White Rhinos (only one male is surviving). Aside from the analogy, the Yukon is a big family vehicle suited to handle everyday hauling and towing needs.

2017 GMC Yukon rear view, black color, taillights

Just like its body-on frame peers, the large Yukon SUV still retains the classic combination of a V8 power and a rugged body construction. Therefore, it manages to offer a substantial amount of towing and off-road capability, and a higher-degree of solidity and burliness. Again, it manages to offer an up-to nine-passenger seating capacity – a fete that even a minivan will be unable to offer.

There’re several reasons that you should probably think long and hard about before deciding. Its suspension system, for instance, is just too much of a truck and the result of this is occasional shivers and shakes in the cabin when cruising on mundane road conditions. The cargo floor is painstakingly high for a short person, and the passenger space on the third bench is poor.

It is only judicious that you first check what the segment offers before making a decision. Some of the alternatives here include the 2017 Dodge Durango, Toyota Sequoia, GMC’s own Acadia, and Honda Pilot 2017.

Well, the 2017 GMC Yukon XL fits the latter’s description. It is among the last surviving species of its breed. Despite this fact, it is still a respectable vehicle in its own right and still has got a long way from being antiquated (or maybe it is).

2017 GMC Terrain – Release Date, News and Rumors

The new 2017 GMC Terrain is once again promising to be the real-deal its class thanks to well-though out features, technologies, and capabilities that it offers. Furthermore, it comes with a powerful V6 engine, a spacious and adjustable backseat, a comfortable highway ride, and a whisper-quiet interior at speed. The GMC Terrain 2017 release date should be expected sometime in the first half of 2017, according to multiple sources undertaking a covert operation inside GMC.

2017 GMC Terrain auto show, side view, alloy wheels

Once production for the new 2017 GMC Terrain begins, it will mark the eighth year since the brand’s first entry in the market. Despite the steady growth of the segment in terms of girth and sales, the Terrain has continued to soldier on every consecutive year, getting redesigns and changes here and there in order to remain competitive in this hotly contested arena.

2017 GMC Terrain rear view, red color, taillights and alloy wheels

Although it’s starting to show its age, the 2017 GMC Terrain interior and exterior redesigns are conspicuous. Appealing qualities such as a comfortable ride and a serene cabin further its likable nature. Again, it comes with tons of technologies that will go a long way in helping you manage you children by distracting/entertaining them especially in long trips.

2017 GMC Terrain spy photos, side view

The familiar 2.4L four-cylinder engine returns again for the new model year. It is rated at 182 horsepower and 172 pounds-feet of torque. There’s also the boffo V6 engine that offers a power of 301 horsepower. When adequately equipped, GMC says the Terrain should be able to achieve a maximum towing capacity of around 3,500 pounds.

2017 GMC Terrain exterior, side angle, alloy wheels

Sadly, there’re some compromises that have to be made. The GMC Terrain suffers from an underpowered four-cylinder engine despite it offering a competitive power of 182 horsepower. It is also slow to respond when you drive the pedal to the metal floor. The fuel economy ratings are poor and are nothing to write home about.

2017 GMC Terrain auto show, rear angle, taillights and tailpipe

There’re a couple of newer vehicles in the segment that are better than the Terrain in many ways. They include the 2017 Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, Ford Escape 2017, and the Jeep Cherokee. Your choice, of course, depends on your priorities. Even in the face of such young, energetic, and better equipped rivals, the new 2017 GMC Terrain is still a good choice for those looking for V6 power and ride comfort.

New 2017 GMC Acadia – Release Date and Info

The 2017 GMC Acadia is among our list of favorites thanks to its premium interior, generous passenger space, and a comfortable ride quality. Furthermore, it offers a long list of available features, a fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine, and multiple interior configurations. The GMC Acadia 2017 release date should be expected sometime this fall.

2017 GMC Acadia exterior, rear view, taillights and alloy wheels

The GMC Acadia has been a favorite large family mover especially for American families who are in need of plenty of cargo room, and generous passenger space. It is upscale, styling, and reeks of American flare. Most of its buyers say it is better than a minivan in all facets of their construction – and that’s an understatement.

2017 GMC Acadia front angle, headlights and grille

It doesn’t come cheap especially if you’re comparing it to the Chevrolet Traverse courtesy of the handsome design and near-luxury cabin quality it offers. The same tradition that has highlighted its existence continues with the 2017 model, but there’s one change though – the 2017 GMC Acadia dimensions have reduced a tad bit.

2017 GMC Acadia spy shots

To wit, it sits 4-inches lower, is 3-inches narrower, and is 7-inches shorter than before. The result of this redesigns is a reduced cargo volume, passenger space, and third-row legroom. Unlike its immediate predecessor, the new model maxes out at seven passengers as the third-row bench seats only two.

Another imperative change is the reduction of weight, which General Motors estimates to be 700 pounds relative to the existing model. The reduced diet is expected to impact positively on the fuel economy ratings, maneuverability, and handling. More specifically, GMC expects the four-cylinder, front-wheel drive model to return fuel economy ratings of around 28 mpg in highway driving well and above the current rating of 24 mpg.

2017 GMC Acadia front view, grille and headlights

An add-on to the existing trim lineup is also a welcome change. It is an off-road oriented model called the Acadia All-Terrain model. This will now bring the total models to four. The existing lineup consists of three core trims – SLE, SLE, and Denali. The SLE and SLT are further broken down to SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1 and SLE-2.

2017 GMC Canyon – Release Date, Review and Specs

According to Duncan Aldred, “The new 2017 GMC Canyon offers an unparalleled efficiency and capability matched with refinement and maneuverability which is the segment’s best and only premium midsize truck.” The GMC Canyon was introduced during the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show and its release date is expected sometime in early 2017. For 2017, the new model builds on an award-winning formula that has characterized the canyon’s luxurious interior, distinctive styling, and elevated content since it debuted in the automotive industry.

The Canyon is a tough beat especially when it comes to a civilized demeanor and strong engines. Again its diesel engine, rich torque, comfortable ride quality, and tons of available high-tech features make it even more competitive. However, the 2016 model faced sharp criticism due to the gasoline V6’s mediocre fuel economy ratings, and a low hanging front air-dam that puts off-road maneuvering in jeopardy.

For starters, it was good news when reports of the Canyon returning to the market surfaced two years ago. Then, relative to the existing competition, it was spacious, easier to drive, quicker, and its engines were fuel misers. Then last year, the Canyon made an even more alluring offer by offering an optional diesel engine to the existing engine lineup. This year, GMC hopes to continue with the same successful streak by making the 2017 Canyon even more compelling than before. This, it hopes to achieve by offering several refinements, and new features that will enable it face the unforgiving competition with a brave face.

For those completely sold out on this segment, there’re a couple of other solid choices available including the Nissan Frontier, 2017 Ram 1500, and the perennial leader of this class – the 2017 Toyota Tacoma.

Interior wise, we’d vouch for the model under review over the popular Chevy Colorado. Asking why? Well, relative to the Colorado, the Canyon offers better material quality evident on the available eight-inch IntelliLink touchscreen interface, a genuine aluminum surround system, padded door panels, and soft-touch plastics. The controls are intuitive and generally well-placed. Smartphone app integration is available and easy to use, and includes Apple CarPlay compatibility and the voice command system.
