For an all-round experience, the new 2017 Mazda 3 is arguably one of the most capable hatchbacks that will be available for sale this year. It promises thrifty yet powerful engines, a smooth ride quality, and sporty driving dynamics. Other highlights include a brisk acceleration, tons of available features for the money, precise handling, a refined interior, and top crash test scores. Its release date should be expected sometime in the first half of 2017.
While some brands may offer several tweaks here and there on their compact sedans or hatchbacks, some things have always remained almost invariant: spacious interior accommodations, top safety specs, reliable, and fuel efficient. Well, for an MSRP of around 20,000, most of the available competition are able to meet these requirements. However, very few of these can offer the kind of engaging driving experience the Mazda 3 2017 offers.
With a stonking 2.5L and 2.0L engines under its hood, the new model manages to not only offer an impressive fuel economy rating but also powerful outputs that manage to make it one of quickest vehicles in its class. Again, it comes with an upgraded suspension, and a telepathic steering system that results in top notch driving dynamics. Other standout features include an upscale interior design and an extensive list of standard and optional features.
This year though, there are plenty of solid picks too. Some of these include the 2017 Honda Civic, Ford Focus, and the Kia Forte 2017. But for an entertaining drive, the Mazda 3 happens to be the only car that can liven up your day.
2017 Mazda 3 Release Date & Price
According to rumors – as Mazda is yet to make the official news of its debut official – the new model will probably go for sale sometime in the first half of 2017. The pricing structure is also a mystery for now, however, a competitive starting price of around $22,000 shouldn’t come as a surprise.
2017 Mazda 3 Exterior
Yet again, Mazda is offering the Mazda 3 in both five-door hatchback and four-door sedan body styles. Some of the basics available to both include power-folding side-view mirrors, sixteen-inch wheels, and LED headlights, taillights, and foglights. Options include adaptive HID headlights, and upgraded eighteen-inch alloys. Based on the KODO design language, the new model comes with a narrow front end, a trapezoidal grille, narrow headlights, and optional twin foglights.
A sporty profile is offered by the lower crease and a shoulder line. Its designers were also able to offer it a cab-back design that emanates from a lengthy hood line that stretches from the windshield pillars and cabin down to the rear axle. Moving to the aft, a sense of width to the 3’s stance is offered by the oval, horizontal shape. Both the taillights and headlights are narrow and sharp. In overall, the exterior profile blends some sporty intent with a sense of premium refinement thanks also to the smooth, tight, and attractive flowing lines.
2017 Mazda 3 Interior
The interior, as before, is chock full of a gamut of standard features. The door locks and windows are electronically operated. And truth be told, the cabin is, without a doubt, decently upmarket for cars in this neck of the woods. Some of the available accessories include Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, power-folding mirrors, smartphone app connectivity, a six-speaker audio system, voice controls, a 7-inch touchscreen display, a height-adjustable driver seat, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, a premium cloth upholstery, HD and internet radio functionality, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a sunroof, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and premium leatherette upholstery.
Several packages are also available such as the Technology package that tacks on features such as an automatic high-beam headlight control, lane-departure warning system, a forward collision alert, active grille shutters, and the i-Eloop regenerative braking system.
Two trims – 3i and the 3s – are available for the new model. Both are further broken down into 3i Sport, 3i Grand Touring, 3i Grand Touring, 3s Touring, and 3s Grand Touring.
